LOUIS VUITTON JACKETS WITH INFLATABLE BUILDINGS
When it was announced in 2018 that the designer Virgil Abloh would be the new creative director of Louis Vuitton , we were confident that their unique vision and risky would make the maison French give the bell with their designs. And of course he has. These inflatable jackets with the most iconic and representative buildings of world architecture are good proof of the creation of the American during the last Paris Fashion Week.
Louis Vuitton has presented
its fall-winter 2021 menswear collection by Virgil Abloh within a space
inspired by the barcelona pavilion - a building designed in 1929 by mies van
der rohe and lily reich. The building's material constructions and combinations
informed aspects of the set created for the show with abloh noting that 'mies
is my other michael jordan'. As part of the presentation, who was appointed
artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menwear collection in 2018, designed a
pair of puffer jackets that feature a selection of recognizable architectural
projects.
Conceived by the creator himself as "miniature urban
landscapes that can be worn", these jackets allude to Virgil Abloh's
training in architecture, allowing the wearer, and I again quote Abloh himself
"to move freely within his confinement urban".
Despite looking almost the same, the two jackets are
different. The first combines buildings from all over the world, while the
second jacket, entitled " skyline puffer jacket", presents
architecture more typical of the French capital, with elements of Notre Dame
Cathedral, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
Conceived as ' wearable miniature cityscapes ', these
jackets allude to virgil abloh's education in architecture, allowing the wearer
to 'move freely within his city confinement.' the 'paris skyline puffer jacket'
presents the architecture of the french capital, with elements from the
notre-dame cathedral, the louvre, and the eiffel tower all incorporated. the
second jacket, titled the 'new york city skyline puffer jacket' features
skyscrapers from a variety of cities, including new york and chicago - abloh's
hometown.
